Scholars for Dollars is a quiz bowl competition. Students compete against other schools in the city, and the regional finals air on television. In "Jacob Two Two and Scholars for Dollars", Jacob is coerced into joining Dreary Meadows's Scholars for Dollars team after the team captain was incapacitated. The other team members are Buford and Melinda. Marfa had participated on Scholars for Dollars when she was younger.
Scholars for Dollars is very similar to the real-life Canadian quiz bowl Reach for the Top.
